We’re meant to be shocked by Harmony Korine’s controversial new movie Spring Breakers, because actresses Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens are in it. The movie is about a group of bored girls who take drugs, binge drink, go to jail and get involved with a naughty man over their spring break. Whoopee Goldberg.
Should we be shocked? They play characters that aren’t dissimilar to an average teenager. Vanessa had nude photos circulating on the internet not once, but twice! The role isn’t gritty enough to tarnish Selena’s bubble gum pop image.
The only thing shocking and disturbing about this movie is James Franco’s character. The grill, 3 1/4 length denim shorts and corn rows. I have goosebumps thinking about it. He doesn’t love himself.
